Developing ways to use materials and techniques is often challenging in the context of adopting sculpture as the core medium for art creation. Through observing the routines of craftsmen such as carpenters, cementers, plumbers, and electricians, I often find pleasant surprises when I integrate their wisdom and experience into my artwork.

From Tree to Charcoal
"From Tree to Charcoal" is a work in the "Before Collapse" series. Through material transformation, the series examines the questions about mortality, death and rebirth, and explores how to live in every moment of our lives. The burnt materiality of the tree in this work poetically and theatrically presents a metaphysical correlation with how we experience time passing and cosmic cycle, both in the external observed physical world as well as in the inner subconscious mind.

Waterdrop
Artist through the work experiments on and explores the relationship between material, process and form. Stainless steel changes its colour and texture after welding. The high temperature produces a metallic surface in steel blue colour and with wave-liked patterns, which match well with the water droplet form. This has been an experience full of uncertainties and conflicts in the production process and the material qualities.
